Writer reading over notes at a bright workspace

About

Nice to meet you

I'm Elena Marsh, a freelance copywriter & brand voice strategist based in Seoul, South Korea. I care about clear thinking, honest claims, and words that earn their place.

Background

A writer who starts with the reader

Not a wordsmith for hire — a strategist who happens to write. Here's how I got here.

I started in-house as the only writer at a Series A startup, where I owned everything from the homepage to the checkout emails. When you're the whole content team, you learn fast that copy isn't decoration — it's the interface between a company and the person deciding whether to trust it. Nine years and a hundred-plus projects later, that's still how I think about every line I write.

My favorite work happens before I write a word. I read your support tickets, listen to sales calls, and talk to the customers you already have, because the best copy is usually something a real person already said — I just find it and clean it up. When a headline finally clicks, it rarely feels clever. It feels obvious, like the only honest way to say the thing.

Outside of client work I write a small newsletter about voice and persuasion, over-research my coffee, and mentor junior writers making the leap to freelance. If you want copy that sounds like a human and moves like a salesperson, I'd love to hear what you're building.

Principles

How I like to work

Clear communication

You always know what's happening, what's next, and why a line reads the way it does.

Voice over volume

One line that sounds like you beats ten that sound like everyone else.

Outcomes over output

I write toward signups, replies, and revenue — not a bigger word count.

Calm collaboration

No drama, no ego — just steady drafts and honest, specific feedback.

Kind words

What clients say

Elena rewrote our homepage and demo requests jumped within a month. She understood our product better than some of our own hires.
Head of Growth, Northwind
Our welcome sequence finally sounds like us. Open rates are up, replies are up, and I stopped dreading the copy step entirely.

Common questions

A landing page runs about one to two weeks; full-site copy or a voice guide, three to five. I'll give you a clear timeline in the proposal before we start.
